About
The residential real estate industry has no standard for how consumers should pick an agent.
Most people hire someone they know. Or someone with a yard sign nearby. Or whoever shows up first in an online search. That decision — one that can shift your net proceeds by tens of thousands of dollars (~$41,000 on a $750K home, on average) — gets made in minutes, based on familiarity instead of performance data.
Vetted Agent exists to address this problem. We look at metrics beyond what is available to consumers, and use a data-driven approach combined with industry expertise to help identify the best agent for your specific situation.
Why this methodology exists
The methodology comes from commercial real estate.
Before founding Vetted Agent, Jake Lind worked at JLL, a Fortune 500 commercial real estate firm, evaluating contractors and consultants for high-stakes commercial projects where a bad hire costs months, thousands of dollars, and numerous headaches. That work was often about one question: who is actually the best fit for this job?
That question translates directly to residential real estate. The stakes are different. The selection methodology isn’t. We help you define the criteria for a successful result, evaluate the candidates on actual performance data, and make a recommendation based on fit — not familiarity.
Vetted Agent assessments and recommendations are brokerage neutral and include agents from all local brokerages.
What makes us different:
What makes us different is best defined by what we are NOT.
We are not a real estate team with our own agents who handle your transaction.
We are not a platform that leads you into contacting an agent (or being contacted by
one) who paid for that opportunity.
We are not a service where agents can pay for priority placement or to be recommended more often.
We are not a service where the match depends on who’s available or who knows somebody.
Above all else, we are not a company that prioritizes profit over your result.
Every Vetted Agent recommendation is grounded in understanding your situation, what we find when we look at the actual numbers, and what we hear when we ask the hard questions.
Our definition of success is simple: your outcome has to be better than it would have been without us.
